shipping and receiving clerk's primary job duties include: receiving incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, inspecting for damage, storing items in designated areas, preparing outgoing shipments by packaging items, printing shipping labels, and updating material order sheets to track material status; essentially managing the flow of goods both into and out of a warehouse or facility. Key responsibilities may include:
• Receiving:
• Unloading incoming deliveries from trucks
• Checking received items against purchase orders and packing slips
• Inspecting goods for damage and reporting discrepancies
• Sorting and labeling received items
• Updating material order sheets with receipt status, pricing and supplier information.
• Shipping:
• Weighing and measuring packages to determine shipping costs
• Generating shipping labels and completing necessary paperwork
• Loading packages onto delivery trucks
• Tracking shipment status and resolving any shipping issues
• Government Property Management:
• Maintaining accurate records of government property
• Monthly government property walk thru to verify accuracy of equipment location.
• Other tasks may include:
• Operating warehouse equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the warehouse
• Adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Maintaining supplier records/files.
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year work experience. Proficient in Excel. Ability to quickly learn new processes. Sense of urgency. Customer focused. Cycle count experience HAZMAT experience Microsoft Office experience Comprehension - read and interpret data, information and documents; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills. Organization - analyze and solve office administrative problems; perform work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under deadlines with potential for frequent interruptions. Reasoning & Decision Making - ability to apply common sense in performing job responsibilities; ability to perform mathematical reasoning. Communications - regular requirements to use written and oral communication skills; interact with managers, coworkers, and others encountered in the course of work. Mathematics - ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and to record, balance, and check results for accuracy. Speaking & Hearing -Ability to communicate and exchange information, both in person and electronically, and to receive and follow instructions. Vision -Ability to operate a computer and discern and assess charts, graphs, reports and/or other forms of written or graphical communication, and the ability to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
