POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is responsible for leading and instructing youth in various sports for the summer.
JOB LOCATION:Walnut Creek YMCA and Waukee YMCA
SUMMER YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM DATES: June 2, 2025-July 31, 2025
SHIFTS AVAILABLE:MON, TUES, WED, THURS - 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM
PAY RANGE: $10.25-$14.00/hour depending on qualifications
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: June 2, 2025 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Demonstrate, teach, and lead activities.
- Conduct the program in a fun, upbeat atmosphere.
- Ability to follow and implement curriculum provided by others.
- Address participants' concerns and notify the supervisor.
- Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.
- Report specific problems or needs to the supervisor or designated staff person.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or designated staff person.
- Exercise sound judgment in situations not covered by policies, procedures, and practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or designated staff person.
- Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.
RequirementsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:- Ability to read, write, perform simple mathematical functions, and perform basic computer functions.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous experience work experience, preferable in leading or instructing others.
- Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent - prior to starting.
- Intro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to starting if hired.
- Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate with people and monitor property and activity
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity
- Ability to adapt to changing working conditions
- Ability to deliver the program in various environments.
