Youth Development Specialist (Afterschool Program)
Location:
Riverside, CA
Pay: Up to $22/hr
Type: Part-time, In-Person (Monday-Friday Afternoons)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth? Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside as a Youth Development Specialist and help shape the future-one child at a time.

We're hiring energetic, compassionate leaders to inspire, guide, and support youth in our afterschool programs located at school sites across the Riverside Unified School District.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead fun, engaging activities in areas like education, the arts, health & wellness, sports, and leadership development
  • Provide homework help, mentorship, and positive behavior guidance
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging space for youth ages 5-13
  • Supervise groups of students and support positive group dynamics
  • Keep program spaces organized, clean, and safe
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, and motivator for young people

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Experience working with youth-whether paid, volunteer, or personal (preferred)
  • Strong communication, patience, and leadership skills
  • Ability to follow program plans and adapt to changing needs
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • CPR/First Aid certified-or willing to earn certification within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to pass:
    • Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) instructional aide exam (minimum 75%)
    • Background check (DOJ/FBI fingerprinting)
    • TB risk assessment
    • Rapid drug screening

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, approximately 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Minimum availability: 2 weekdays/week for substitute status
  • Aligned with the school year calendar (winter/spring/summer breaks are unpaid)
