Description: Rotating Shifts Days and afternoon classes.
POSITION PURPOSE The purpose of the Yoga Instructor is to teach Yoga in a group exercise format to individuals with a history of cardiovascular events and/or risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The instructor must be mindful of all class participants, acknowledging various fitness and skill levels, as well as medical conditions; having the ability to tailor the class in an appropriate manner. The goal of the Yoga class is to provide a compassionate practice, using physical movement and relaxation techniques to help participants manage and sustain their own sense of well-being, strength and stability.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE - RYT 200 or higher certification from an accredited Yoga training school.
- Current certification by a recognized national organization required.
- Two years minimum yoga teaching experience.
- CPR/AED certification required
- Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Exhibit aptitude in the yoga philosophy of healing, ethics, techniques, methods and practices as they apply to yoga.
- Prior experience teaching yoga to populations with special medical conditions.
- Ability to lead group classes and adapt to all levels.
- Must be customer service oriented and possess good communication skills and enthusiasm.
- Ability to communicate with other team members.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.
- Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of St. Joseph Mercy Health System through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values.
