Part-Time Independant Contractor (1099) role

An Expressive Arts Yoga Therapist combines the healing practices of yoga with expressive arts to support clients in achieving emotional, mental, and physical well-being. This role involves guiding individuals or groups through yoga sessions, creative arts activities, and therapeutic or meditation practices designed to foster self-awareness, personal growth, and emotional release.

The Expressive Arts Group Facilitator (Yoga Instructor) creates a safe and supportive environment for clients in a group setting, to explore their feelings, express themselves, and find balance through a holistic approach.

Please Note Candidates that have Expressive Arts Group Facilitator experience, outside of the Yoga/Wellness, will also be considered.

Shifts to choose from:

A.M Shift Options
  • 10:30am - 11:00am (IOP Group): 2 days per week
  • 12:30-1:00 pm (PHP Group): 2 days per week
P.M. Shift Options
  • 5:00pm- 5:30pm (IOP Group): 2 days per week
  • 6:00pm-6:30pm (PHP Group): 2 days per week
Compensation: $50.00 per hour (1099)

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:
    • Leads individualized or group yoga sessions tailored to the unique needs and abilities of clients.
    • Use therapeutic yoga practices (asanas, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation techniques) to address physical, emotional, and psychological concerns.
    • Create personalized yoga sequences and adapt practices for clients with varying levels of experience or special conditions (e.g., trauma, anxiety, chronic pain).
    • Provide guidance on body alignment, mindfulness, and movement awareness.
    • Integrate various forms of expressive arts (such as painting, drawing, music, dance, or creative writing) with yoga practices to encourage emotional expression and exploration.
    • Encourage clients to use creative processes to reflect on their feelings, experiences, and personal journeys.
    • Support clients in overcoming emotional blocks, reducing stress, and promoting healing through art and self-expression.
    • Build strong, empathetic relationships with clients, ensuring trust and a safe environment for personal growth.
    • Tailor sessions based on the client's specific therapeutic needs, goals, and preferences.
    • Offer ongoing support, encouragement, and guidance for clients throughout their healing process.
Qualifications:
  • Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) or similar accredited certification.
  • Understanding of meditative practices or training in expressive arts therapies or relevant creative arts disciplines.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations, including individuals with mental health challenges, trauma, or chronic conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to create a safe and trusting space for clients.
  • A deep understanding of the therapeutic integration of yoga and creative expression.
  • Previous experience in providing therapeutic support in either individual or group settings is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Background in psychology, counseling, or related mental health fields preferred - not required.
  • Certification or training in trauma-informed care preferred - not required
  • Knowledge of somatic practices and mindfulness-based interventions.
