WNRN in Virginia seeks an experienced fundraiser to serve as their next Director of Fundraising. Working under the supervision of the General Manager, the Director of Fundraising is primarily responsible for finding and acquiring sources of contributed revenue from individual donors. The Director of Fundraising will assist with setting related fundraising goals and will be responsible for creating and managing the strategies and systems to meet or exceed those goals. The Director of Fundraising will manage the Member Services Coordinator and Development Assistant.
About WNRN: WNRN is a small, nonprofit AAA (Adult Album Alternative) radio station that plays well-known Americana, Indie, Blues, and Rock acts as well as local musicians. The station strives to serve as an essential community resource through music and are a voice for other nonprofits in the listening area. The listening area spans Virginia, north from Harrisonburg in the west down to Roanoke in the south, east to Charlottesville, Richmond and on to Hampton Roads - from the Blue Ridge to the Bay.
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 based on experience and skillset of candidate. Generous benefits, including: healthcare, dental, vision, IRA with match.
Key Responsibilities: - Identification, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors using existing database.
- Responsible for oversight of WNRN's bi-annual fund drives, including development and acquisition of premium items, scheduling and supervision of all volunteer staff for each drive; oversight of the design and implementation of all support materials and systems for gathering contributions, and fulfillment of all premiums pre- and post- fund drive.
- Work with the General Manager and Development Director to examine capacity of current members and develop a moves management process to create giving structures.
- Work with General Manager and Director of Finance and Administration in creation of projects or targets for specific appeals.
- Manage philanthropy opportunities at all station functions and events.
- Participate in Fund Drives and assist with other station events as needed.
- Identify possible funding sources for Hear Together program with goal to expand into all listening areas.
- Develop strategies and systems for planned giving and other non-traditional sources of fundraising.
- Maintaining relationships of key stakeholders including donors, grantors, Board and Community Advisory Council.
- Manage the creation of regular reports charting the growth of individual giving and other areas of annual gift effectiveness and represent the status and strategy of that growth to the Governing Board.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience: - Fundraising experience including: a background in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship; initiating and fostering relationships with donors.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills - comfortable with various conversations, presentations and asks; Excellent written and oral communications.
- Self-motivated - must exhibit perseverance and commitment to WNRN mission and its donors, be organized, and enjoy follow through.
- Should appreciate the music played on WNRN, enjoy the experience of local events, and embrace the culture of community.
- Travel within the central Virginia area to meet with current donors and broaden engagement of prospective major donors is required.
