Principal Engineer (Wireless Location Algorithm)- role for one of our clients, a wireless services company, this is a full time role located in Belmont, CA.
They've developed a platform that can locate devices in real time using wireless signals - no GPS needed. That means it works indoors, underground, or anywhere GPS fails. The role will be all about signal processing and advanced algorithms. It's a small, sharp team where your work directly shapes the tech.
If you're someone who enjoys solving hard signal problems, this would hit the mark.
Qualifications:
- PhD or Masters in Electrical Engineer
- Expertise in the characteristics and nuances of key wireless technologies used for positioning, primarily in WiFi Technology
- Strong understanding of wireless systems and protocols (IEEE 802.11 standards)
- Strong background in communication theory and digital signal processing (DSP): Understanding concepts like modulation, coding, channel estimation, filtering, and signal detection
- Understanding of TDoA (Time Difference of Arrival) and related location techniques.
- Python and NumPy
- Knowledge of RF hardware
Responsibilities:
- Creating innovative algorithms for wireless positioning, often using techniques like trilateration, triangulation, sensor fusion (combining data from different sensors like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UWB, GPS, IMUs), and probabilistic methods (e.g., particle filters).
- Build custom test fixtures to benchmark system and components
- Building and using computer models (often in MATLAB, Python, or C ) to simulate wireless environments and test the performance of their algorithms under various conditions
- Prototype improvements to existing location estimation techniques and adapt them to new industry standards
- Analyzing and resolving issues related to location accuracy and system performance in complex wireless environments
