You will gain experience with a variety of wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi, and also contribute to projects involving Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), LoRaWAN, 800/900MHz, Bluetooth, Zigbee, and CURWB.

This role will involve performing wireless site surveys and assisting with RF design and optimization for Wi-Fi networks. You will also have the opportunity to work with IoT protocols and contribute to the integration of Cisco wireless controllers with Cisco Spaces for location services and IoT applications. There is strong demand for new wireless technologies to support Industrial IoT (IIoT) initiatives within our manufacturing facilities and warehouses. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of wireless networking principles and a desire to expand their knowledge in both traditional Wi-Fi and emerging IoT technologies. Familiarity with Cisco Prime Infrastructure and Cisco Catalyst Center is a plus. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your skills in a diverse and dynamic wireless environment.

Responsibilities

Wireless Surveys and Spectrum Analysis:
  • Conduct wireless site surveys to assess RF coverage and identify sources of interference in both Wi-Fi and non-Wi-Fi bands (e.g., 800/900MHz, LoRaWAN).
  • Perform spectrum analysis using tools such as spectrum analyzers to identify and mitigate interference issues.
  • Document survey findings and provide recommendations for optimizing wireless performance.
IoT Protocol Support:
  • Assist in the design and implementation of wireless networks to support IoT devices and applications.
  • Gain experience with IoT protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), LoRaWAN, Zigbee, and others.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues with IoT devices and ensure seamless integration with the network.
Cisco Spaces Integration:
  • Assist in the integration of Cisco wireless controllers with Cisco Spaces to leverage location services, office analytics, and IoT capabilities.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco Spaces settings to optimize location accuracy and data collection.
  • Develop and implement use cases for Cisco Spaces, such as asset tracking, space utilization monitoring, and environmental sensing.
Wireless Infrastructure Support:
  • Assist in the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of Cisco wireless infrastructure components, including access points and wireless LAN controllers.
  • Monitor wireless network performance and identify potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wireless network problems, escalating complex issues to senior engineers as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create and maintain documentation of wireless network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Generate reports on wireless network performance and utilization.
Wireless Technology Evaluation:
  • Assist in the evaluation of new and emerging wireless technologies, with a focus on Wi-Fi & IoT applications.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept testing to validate the performance and feasibility of new wireless technologies.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of wireless services with other network infrastructure.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on wireless-related issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in wireless networking.
  • Solid understanding of wireless networking principles, including 802.11 standards, RF fundamentals, and wireless security protocols.
  • Familiarity with Cisco wireless infrastructure, including access points and wireless LAN controllers.
  • Experience performing wireless site surveys and spectrum analysis.
  • Knowledge of IoT protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), LoRaWAN, and Zigbee.
  • Experience with Cisco Prime Infrastructure or Cisco Catalyst Center is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CWNA, CCNA Wireless, CCNP Enterprise, Certified Wireless IoT Solutions Administrator (CWISA) or similar, are desirable.
