Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
What We're Looking For: If you've enjoyed 2 or more years of hands-on experience administering and maintaining VMware, Windows and /or Linux systems and are in the market for your next opportunity, Iridium has a role for you within our IT Operations team. Our Windows Administrator II is responsible for the administration and maintenance of various IT Operations environments and working with end users to maintain accounts and troubleshooting issues for both local (AZ) and remote sites across the company (including our Chandler and Tempe AZ offices). Working in this role, you'll gain valuable experience, knowledge, and skills in in Windows, Azure, VMware, UCS and other systems/platforms. What You'll Do: Be responsible for administering, maintaining, tuning, and troubleshooting development and production operations of Windows environments - Work autonomously to support users in setting up accounts and troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Assist in the development of systems monitoring and automation, utilizing tools and multiple scripting for Windows systems
- Create and deploy virtual machines with vSphere
- Rack and cable new servers
- Play a role in the development and maintenance of IT Documents (diagrams, procedures, etc.)
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
What You'll Need to Succeed: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related program of study, OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- 2+ years hands-on experience administering and maintaining VMware, Windows and/or Linux
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
- Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
- Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
- Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table: - Relevant technical certifications (i.e., CompTIA, RHCSA, MSCE, F5 etc.)
- Previous experience in a datacenter/telecommunications environment
- Experience in Windows, and VMware virtualized environments
- Experience in patching using various patching software
We'll also need you to: - Be on call to support business operations
- Be able to travel up to 10%
- Be able to lift 30 lbs
- Be a US citizen
Work Environment: This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
