This is a remote position. However, the candidate may be required tcome onsite for work in the Raleigh office when onsite works is required.
Windows Server Administrator tassist with management, administration, and maintenance of NCAOC Virtualized Server environment. This position provides 24x7x365 operational support for 30,000+ Judicial and non-Judicial branch users across the state.
Responsibilities include but are not limited tthe following:
Windows Server Administration
Manage operation, health, and security of a Virtual Server environment.
Research Vulnerability Notices when received and work with affected areas for patch or workaround deployment.
Assist with management and maintenance of physical datacenter infrastructure.
Respond tMonitoring System Alerts.
Active Directory User Administration
Manage Users and Groups.
Provide Users access trequested resources.
General Administration
Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance benchmarking.
Provide support for issues ranging from single-user issues tsystem-wide problems.
Assist with periodic testing of disaster preparedness for the NC Judicial Center Data Center.
And other assigned duties.
The person in this position reports tthe Distributed Computing Manager. Work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday plus On-Call responsibilities as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Knowledge of: windows server operating systems, physical server infrastructure, virtual servers, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure support tools.
Skills in: managing, supporting, and monitoring server hardware, operating systems, and software in a primarily Windows-based environment.
Ability to: manage and monitor windows servers in a virtualized environment; Assure existing systems are functioning properly and processing effectively according tthe objectives; Troubleshoot common server issues with servers and software in a primarily Windows-based environment; Perform administration tasks in Active Directory. Assist faculty and management staff in the analysis of vulnerability alert management.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in computer science or another related information technology field and four (4) years of IT related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management recommends that candidates have at least three (3) years of directly related experience in Windows Server Management three (3) years of directly related experience tPhysical Server Management.
Microsoft certifications are a plus.
AWS certifications are a plus.
PRIMARY TASK OBJECTIVES FOR CONTRACTOR (may overlap)
Security Engineer Assistance.
Teams sole Security Engineer has several security related projects and tasks that he needs assistance with. Tasks will include but not be limited to:
Vulnerability Research and Remediation
Monthly patch review and deployment assistance.
Zero-day patch review and deployment assistance (if necessary).
Access Request Assistance
Team receives a large amount of access requests tvarious resources. This position will assist with fulfilling these requests as quickly as possible when able. If not, they will route requests tappropriate DCS engineer for fulfillment and notify them.
Other tasks assigned tassist with the management of the Windows Server Virtual Environment.
Required Skills
Strong experience with Microsoft PowerShell tool scripting. 3 years
Experience with vulnerability remediation & patch management 3 years
Experience with Microsoft Active Directory/Group Policy Objects. 3 years
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Management (MECM) 3 years
Microsoft Patching experience. 3 years
Physical server management experience with CISCO UCS Servers 3 years
Any Enterprise Storage platform experience EMC a plus 3 years
Cloud services management experience, preferably Azure and AWS. 3 years
knowledge of common security standards such as PCI, FERPA, and NIST 3 years
familiarity with NC Statewide security standards. 3 years
