OVERVIEW

Insight Global is seeking a Wind Turbine Technicians to join a large utilities client in Maljamar, NM. The Wind Technician will not be required to travel and instead will support one specific Wind Farm in Maljamar. They will inspect, review manuals and schematic diagrams to determine the tasks, tools, equipment and parts needed for various activities on site. They will work with other Technicians on site to ensure that all equipment and machinery are running properly while adhering to strict safety regulations. Around 85% of the work they will do will be in or around the substation.


Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitors status of wind generation equipment operation.
  • Responds to alarms and corrects abnormal conditions to maintain wind generation availability, capacity factor and performance.
  • Troubleshoots electrical, electronic, mechanical and computer problems, including by using voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and hand/power tools.
  • Corrects malfunctions and repairs equipment.
  • Develop procedures and schedules for inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Performs scheduled equipment inspections and maintenance including FAA anticollision lighting.
  • Performs scheduled environmental inspections including Spill Prevention Countermeasure and Control, Avian/Bat program, and other environmental compliance requirements.
  • Keep records and logs and prepare reports.
  • Participates in climbing, rope rescue, electrical and other safety training activities.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
  • Provide general facility support including building, shop, tools, and equipment cleanup.
  • Complete maintenance work order sheets to document maintenance work performed.
  • Individuals may be assigned to drive forklift for purposes of equipment placement
  • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA's, and job specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in the safest manner possible

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 1+ year of experience related to the position
  • Computer/tech savviness - basic computer knowledge, ability to navigate systems such as Microsoft Office
  • Ability to climb turbine towers (280 ft+) daily if needed is required
  • Ability to pass fit for duty testing, background check, and drug screening prior to starting the role

Physical Considerations


  • Physical stamina: Wind technicians must be able to climb on ladder systems to height of turbine nacelle, often with tools and equipment. Some tower ladders may be 280 feet high or taller. Therefore, wind technicians should be able to work for long periods without tiring easily.
  • Physical strength: Wind technicians must lift and climb with heavy equipment, parts and tools. Some weigh in excess of 45 pounds.
  • Required to work safely at heights up to and exceeding two hundred eighty (280) feet.
  • May be required to work under hazardous conditions.
  • Requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Work outside in all types of weather conditions.
  • Work in small, enclosed areas, high places, dusty conditions and work independently under stressful conditions.
