The WHS Manager will be responsible for partnering with a site operations team at AMZL Stations to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. The WHS Manager must demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and influence change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

The WHS Manager must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. This individual must instruct and train Operations Leaders in company safety policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards. The WHS Manager will identify best practices and incorporate these into our standards to continuously improve safety policies. The role requires excellent safety program knowledge, including environmental and ergonomic expertise, demonstrated when working with Operations.

The WHS Manager will lead a team comprising Safety Specialists, Safety Coordinators, and Onsite First Aid Associates. They must create and execute leadership development plans for their team, communicate safety expectations, and provide feedback to ensure core competencies are met.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Partner with senior Cluster Operations Managers for WHS and environmental compliance within their clusters.
  2. Facilitate safe operations at stations handling 40K to 80K units in BAU and up to 120K during peak periods.
  3. Collaborate closely with Cluster Operations Managers, Station Managers, and Support Partners from SLP, PXT, and RME.
  4. Manage blue-badge officers, yellow-badge supervisors, and yard marshal employees, maintaining risk assessments and audit records.
  5. Analyze injury, Near Miss, and Dragonfly data to identify trends and inform decision-making.
  6. Educate and promote awareness of WHSMS procedures, ensuring compliance and driving standardization.
  7. Lead site self-audits to achieve zero non-compliance in legal audits.
  8. Build cross-functional partnerships to support safety reporting and CAPA closures.
  9. Mitigate safety hazards during peak periods and onboard new hires with safety awareness training.
  10. Make informed decisions in ambiguous situations and escalate issues as needed.
  11. Lead and develop a team of WHS employees, fostering a culture of safety, recognition, and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications

Science graduate / Diploma in Engineering / Engineering Degree + Safety Diploma from recognized institute / NEBOSH IGC or Diploma

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including pivot tables and chart development.
  • Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with a site of at least 250 employees.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements in operational environments.
