We're expanding and looking for a talented Site WHS Manager to join our team. You'll be passionate about partnering with the business (site operations team in a Fulfillment Center) to ensure WHS risks are managed. We expect you to drive our Amazon WHS culture with site leaders, embed Amazon WHS policies and processes, and ensure compliance with all local legislative obligations. Leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful Site WHS Manager will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis.

The Site WHS Manager must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist site teams in incorporating safety standards. You will identify best practices and incorporate these into our standards for continuous improvement in occupational health and safety. You should possess excellent safety program knowledge, ergonomic expertise, and demonstrate this when working with Operations.

You will be comfortable working within a global company, leveraging insights from different regions to support your success. The Site WHS Manager will lead team members such as Workplace Health and Safety Coordinators and will create and execute leadership development plans for your team.

Key job responsibilities

1. Possess a thorough understanding of Australian WHS legislation, including state-specific legislation and codes of practice.
2. Complete risk assessments related to WHS hazards.
3. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards.
4. Develop local site WHS procedures and processes to meet Amazon Global Standards.
5. Measure site performance against published safety requirements.
6. Identify and plan to address deficiencies at the site.
7. Deliver projects to Operations on time and with quality.
8. Analyze safety metrics and review incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
9. Perform frequent site WHS audits to identify non-compliance issues.
10. Implement solutions to eliminate risks and prevent injuries.
11. Audit record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with safety standards and regulations.
12. Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors for training and compliance.
13. Lead and mentor Safety Associates or H&S representatives.
14. Champion the site WHS committee, providing guidance and support.
15. Ensure training and knowledge of WHS responsibilities among leadership and Associates.
16. Audit the quality and effectiveness of safety training.
17. Manage contractor safety processes.
18. Support operations through change management processes.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including pivot tables and charts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with at least 250 employees.
• Experience implementing lean principles and process improvements.
• Over 3 years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations.
