TASSCO is a provider of specialty alloy steel wear plate and a manufacturer of custom wear solutions.
A TASSCO welder performs final welding of assemblies and parts from steel plate and structural steel in a manner to maximize production efficiency.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Make welds to meet specifications on TASSCO production drawings.
- Produce strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, & consistent.
- Set welding machines to proper voltage and wire speed for materials being welded.
- Follow required procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures in the assembly process.
- Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly
- Maintain tools and machines.
- Wear Proper PPE.
Qualifications, Skills, & Attributes
Education:
Vocational school training or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fabrication Shop Skills:
- Knowledge of welding processes and equipment
- Weld vertical, flat, and overhead with a good penetration and quality weld
- Pass welding test for Tee Joint (F2) and Vertical (F3)
- Proficient welding with flux core (FCAW), stick (SMAW), and mig (MGAW)
- Operate mixed gas and plasma torches
- Read tape measures
- Knowledge of AWS welding symbols
- Operate forklift & overhead cranes
Language Skills:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Additional Details
Hourly Pay Rate: $18-25/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: M-F, 3pm-11pm with occassional overtime
