Qualifications: Attained at least a 2.5 semester GPA and remain in good conduct standing At least one semester completed at ISU as a full-time student (at least 12 earned credit hours), with the intention to return for the Fall 2025 semester Display commitment to the mission and values of Indiana State University and the Office of New Student Orientation Demonstrate aptitude to work independently and effectively with diverse populations, both in-person and virtually Exercise open-mindedness, a willingness to step outside of their comfort zone, and understand issues from an alternative point of view Ability to speak publicly, both in small and large groups; lead, and facilitate group dialogue Demonstrate critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills across diverse populations Selection Process: Step 1 - Online Application Students must submit an online application by Friday, February 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. When submitting the application, candidates should be prepared to answer the following questions: Why are you interested in becoming an Orientation Leader and what motivates you to want to work with new students and their family members/guests? Why is understanding and appreciating diversity important in working with your fellow Orientation Leaders, but also with new students and/or their family members and guests? As an Orientation Leader, how do you envision helping students and their family members and guests to transition successfully to Indiana State University? Is there anything else about you or your experience that you believe we should consider when making our hiring decisions? Applicants will also be required to submit the following documents: Cover Letter Resume Three references (Including at least one academic and one professional reference. References cannot be NSO staff) Step 2 - Group Process Interview All qualifying applicants are required to participate in a group process interview as part of the hiring process. Group interviews will take place the week of February 10th, 2025. Candidates will receive information about signing up for an interview after completing the application. Step 3 - Meet and Greet Social The Meet and Greet will take place on February 20th, 2025 and will give invited applicants the opportunity to interact with the other candidates and our staff while enjoying light refreshments. Attendance for the Meet and Greet is required and business casual attire is most appropriate. Step 4 - Individual Interview Invited applicants will participate in an individual interview as part of the hiring process. Individual interviews will take place the week of March 3rd, 2025 and must be completed before final hiring decisions are made. Candidates will receive information about signing up for an interview after completing the Group Process Interview and Meet and Greet. Step 4 - Notification and Acceptance Initial offers of OL positions happen in March after individual interviews and candidates are given a specific time frame in which to formally accept the position before it is offered to other candidates in the applicant pool. Unfortunately, we may have great candidates who we are unable to offer a position to. However, some of those candidates may be offered a slot in our alternate pool and could be asked to join the team at a later date if a position opens up. Welcome Team Orientation Leader (WTOL) should be ready to learn, lead, be challenged, grow, and serve the Indiana State community. WTOL are expected to work together through relationship building, leadership development, and institutional knowledge training. WTOL will work alongside professional, graduate and undergraduate staff, and collaborate with campus partners to create a positive and informative experience for new Sycamores and their family members. They will gain skills in areas including, but not limited to:; Leadership; Teamwork; Public Speaking; Group Facilitation; Goal Setting, and; Conflict Management; If approved, the Welcome Team Orientation Leader Internship has the opportunity for academic credit.
