Job Summary:
Under general direction, this employee performs several functions at the Orange Beach
Fitness Center. Work involves answering phones, assisting citizens, registering
members and participants. Employee is responsible for monies collected through daily
operations. Employee is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe facility.
Supervisory responsibilities:
N/A
Essential functions:
• Register the general public as members of the Recreation Facilities.
• Assist the public by answering questions or concerns or by directing them to the
correct division for assistance.
• Solve disciplinary problems occurring in the lobby, and gym areas, and fill out
incident reports.
• Provide minor first-aid as necessary, fill out accident reports.
• Maintain security and cleanliness in the Fitness Center.
• Informs the Fitness Center Manager when repairs or maintenance is needed.
• Responsible for proper storage and inventory of supplies.
• Maintains positive public relations at the Fitness Center.
• Follows proper opening and closing procedures.
• Other duties as defined by Fitness Center Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Reading skills to understand laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the
operation of the department and facilities.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors
and general public.
• Verbal skills to communicate effectively with other staff and general public.
• Math skills to perform basic math to perform financial duties.
• Strong computer skills to register participants and prepare reports.
• Writing skills to clearly and neatly complete forms and reports.
• Knowledge of city and departmental policies, rules, and procedures.
• Communication skills to give clear and concise information to general public
Qualifications:
• Possess a valid Alabama Driver's License.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, and other nonstandard hours.
Education and experience:
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service field.
• American Red Cross first aid/CPR certified.
Physical demands:
There is walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items. Being able to lift 45 lbs. on
a daily basis.
Work environment:
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal
safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting, and training rooms. Use
safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of
fire regulations. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
