Job Title: Software Developer - JuniorLocation: FAA (800 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC 20591) 100% ON-SITEClearance: Ability to acquire a Public Trust (US Citizenship is required) We are looking for a talented Web Software Developer with a strong background in C and React.js to join our team. As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable web applications that provide an exceptional user experience. You will work on both front-end and back-end systems, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
You will be developing a C / .NET web application that includes UI/UX, frontend, backend PostgreSQL AWS RDS Database, running in the FAA Tyrion Container Service in the AWS/Gov Cloud environment. We are a small AGILE team with an experienced project manager, short sprint cycles, on-site product owners, and a great working team environment. This will be challenging and rewarding work.
Qualifications:Education: - Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Experience: - 3+ years of experience as a Developer, with expertise in C and React.js.
- Proven experience developing and deploying web applications using ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, and Oracle DB.
- Strong experience with front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.js.
- Familiarity with modern development tools and practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies.
Skills & Competencies: - Proficient in C , ASP.NET Core, and back-end development concepts.
- Strong understanding of front-end development using React.js, Redux, and related libraries.
- Experience with database design, management, and optimization using Oracle or other databases.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and web application security.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and deploying applications in a cloud environment.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Knowledge of UI/UX principles and experience working with designers to implement user interfaces.
- Experience with other JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., Angular, Vue.js) and back-end languages.
Key Responsibilities:Application and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Maintenance and Service Support to include: - Maintain and operate SQL-based applications that are currently in-use by Facilities Management Division
- Provide configuration management, performance testing, routine upgrades, technology insertion, administration, maintenance and backup of software solely dedicated for the COTS Support Services
- Configure and fine-tune elements of the COTS system/application to achieve optimal performance, including COTS software such as Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher), Media Players, and SQL Server
- Provide software bug fixes and emergency software repairs
Change, Configuration, and Release Management Support tp include: - Provide change, configuration, and release management support
- Establish a Change and Configuration Repository, readily available to the FAA, to store technical documentation, for both baseline and change/configuration updates, to include infrastructure, configuration, Business Intelligence created objects (e.g., reports, dashboards, universes, data links, and data sources), databases, deliverables, projects, releases, security scans, and release management
- Assist the FAA in the prioritization and impact analyses of application/system technical System Change Requests (SCR's)
- Maintain version control, provide turnover management, and support the Technology Control Board
Database Management Service Support - Facilitate running reports, document database searches, troubleshoot databases and software, translate requests into search strategies, design input and output formats, and refine queries and reports Collaborate with the Facility Manager to monitor and analyze requirements
- Develop applications that provide real-time access to support Facility Management programs
- Provide database administration of instance, storage, performance, schema, object, SQL code, patching, upgrades, updates, data backup and recovery
- Support operating system of all the databases utilized by listed COTS and applications to verify the operating system is configured, patched, and secure
Concept of Operations and Requirements Analysis Support - Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Collaborate with the Program Office to ensure customized databases are capable of generating and managing service
- Collaborate with FAA to gather data and perform requirements analysis to assess the feasibility of systems and technologies
- Investigate capabilities between existing systems and proposed new systems and make recommendations for migrating legacy operations to such new environments
- Support the development of new systems and migration of current systems by performing requirements analysis and concept of operations studies
Collaboration & Communication: - Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and Agile ceremonies to contribute to continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and team members.
Testing & Quality Assurance: - Write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests to ensure the reliability and performance of web applications.
- Perform code reviews to maintain code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Debug and resolve technical issues across the full stack, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on users.
Continuous Improvement: - Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in full-stack development.
- Contribute to the improvement of development processes, tools, and methodologies within the team.
- Explore new technologies and frameworks to enhance the team's capabilities and drive innovation.
