Our work depends on a Weapons Control Engineer joining our team to support the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) activities. At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Weapons Control Engineer supporting PEO IWS, you will be trusted to bring together a multi-disciplinary team that is geographically dispersed to provide engineering planning, design, integration, installation, and test of Aegis Combat Systems (ACS) onboard ships post-construction and during maintenance availabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the Aegis Command Decision (C&D) and Aegis Display System (ADS) are operational and available. Specific responsibilities include: Manage and oversee assignments to personnel involved in the analysis, design, integration, testing, installation, operation, product support, and maintenance of the Aegis Combat System (ACS) Weapon Control System (WCS) computing element and the Aegis Mk-99 Fire Control System (FCS) to include data paths, collimation, and alignment with other Aegis Weapon System (AWS) components.
Ensure proper activation and operation of the WCS, FCS, and other AWS components in support of AN/SPG-62 Radar collimation and alignment including safety processes, test procedure review, crew training and trials support, configuration and computer program operation and interface with other elements.
Provide subject matter expertise in support of WCS, FCS, and other AWS components involved in the processes and procedures found in the CG and DDG Combat Systems Alignment Manual (CSAM) which support AWS alignment.
Identify, report and resolve equipment and computer program issues involving WCS, FCS, and other AWS equipment supporting Combat Systems Alignment.
Work as a team member to complete customer deadlines which may have competing/shifting priorities.
Provide written analysis of test procedure discrepancies to Combat System Test Coordinators; and Document test procedure discrepancies for future revision. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: BA/BS, 6+ yrs (or 10+ yrs)
A US DoD Secret security clearance is required.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of the larger GDIT Navy and Marine Corps Sector.
