Job Description This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position. This position provides administrative support for the skilled trades and public safety programs in the Workforce, Career & Technical Education (WCTE) division, to include Automotive, Autobody, Machining, Welding, Advanced Manufacturing, Construction, Criminal Justice, Emergency Medical Technician and Fire Science.
The position must provide consistent, quality, timely and accurate program and divisional support to maintain the reputation of the programs and ensure eligibility for continued funding.
Must have knowledge and understanding of the various careers associated with each program and assist prospective and current students in understanding the opportunities, requirements and demands of each program. The incumbent will train students, faculty and staff on required policies, procedures and eligibility criteria required for admittance/participation into the various programs and courses. The incumbent will also be responsible to collect and track required documentation and certification attainment; arrange and track
field/clinical experiences; and support compliance with all accreditation, institutional and state agency requirements.
The incumbent will maintain and support relationships with the student population, faculty, business partners, accrediting/certifying bodies and the general public to ensure that WNC provides relevant, compliant experiences that prepare students for gainful employment.
Each discipline has its own self-sustaining accounts, as well as state appropriations and grant funding. The position will be responsible to oversee these accounts, to include completing purchasing/receiving processes, reconciling
spending to actual, and preparing reports when needed.
The incumbent will support the activities associated with each discipline to include planning/organizing regular Advisory Committee meetings; maintaining relationships with national certification and state oversight agencies; supporting the implementation of specialized and dual enrollment courses; and planning and engaging in events.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities;
OR one (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service;
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
