The
Water Polo Assistant Coach is responsible for teaching the sport of water polo and water safety to individual participants at a variety of levels.
Responsibilities: - Coach youth in proper rules, techniques and play around water polo.
- Respond to member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Help participants reach their desired goals in fitness, learning new skills, making friends and growing in the sport of water polo.
- Actively recruit new participants to the program from within and outside of the Y.
- Provide individual participants with water polo knowledge and techniques focused on the development skills for the participant.
- Implement all safety policies, procedures and training for water polo program.
Qualifications: - At least Two years' experience coaching water polo or playing water polo, high school or collegiate level preferred, other experience coaching or working with Youth considered.
- Must be able to differentiate between colors (red, yellow, blue and green) for swim test necklaces.
- Experience teaching water polo skills, or willingness to learn from experienced peer coaches.
- Experience in analyzing water polo performance and identifying areas needed for improvement, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge in current training methods of all aspects of competitive water polo, or willingness to learn.
- Proven track record working on a team and with youth-oriented programming.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
Schedule: This is a part-time position averaging 4 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are evenings and will be discussed during the interview process.
