JOB SUMMARY:
A Water Fitness Instructor teaches Water Fitness in a group setting. They teach a variety of Water Fitness classes, but they must provide appropriate proof of training to be considered. Water Fitness Instructors will be required to provide skills demonstration for approval. The Aquatics Instructor must deliver all aspects of a service including, but not limited to set up prior to services and tear down following services, tidying their pool area following services and reporting any potential problems or hazards. They are required to contribute articles for consideration of publication, assist at department events and attend Aquatics, Club and Company meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Aquatics Exercise Association Certification and other appropriate certifications depending on the scope of their services.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certifications
- A minimum of two years experience teaching
- Speaks English language fluently
- Positive and friendly attitude
- Proven abilities and customer service experience
RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide safe and physically sound classes or services that are appropriate for the population being served and meet the goal of the class.
- Service the member's needs with genuine enthusiasm and care.
- Provide appropriate information and communication to members and department in a timely manner.
- Must develop and maintain the predetermined attendance levels.
- Must be able to demonstrate proper and appropriate use of equipment utilized including class gear and sound system.
- Arrive in time to have their class/service area set up prior to the start time of a class or service.
- Organize and maintain equipment and gear. Ensure it is put it away properly following a class or service.
- Ensure the pool area where a class or service was taught is tidy following sessions.
- Provide accurate and completed timesheets, class counts and any other required documents/projects by required deadlines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: To perform the duties of this position successfully, an employee is required to execute the essential functions of the job. Employees in this position will be required to work in a very fast paced and ever-changing where there are outside distractions and possibly high volumes of traffic.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position involves working and performing outdoors year-round. The employee is responsible for taking appropriate sun and weather precautions. There will be lifting up to 40 lbs, and performance on the pool deck and within the water for an extended amounts of time at classes and events.
