Location: FVPD Aquatic Centers

Hours: Monday - Thursday 9-12pm and 5 - 7pm

Salary: $20.00/hr. Minimum hourly rate

Type: Part-time/Seasonal

Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a strong interest in personal fitness and a desire to educate and assist others in attaining their fitness goals. Must be a certified instructor with the ability to conduct safe and effective exercise classes as well as assist individuals in the development of a safe and effective exercise program. Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, strength training and cardiovascular exercise necessary to ensure the safety of all members and patrons is required. Aquatics Fitness Professionals Association International (AFPAI) basic core certification or equivalent from an accredited certifying entity (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, etc.) is required. Current primary group exercise certification through ACE, AFAA, NETA, or SCW, also required or ability to obtain within six months of hire. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or must obtain within 30 days of hire. Additional certification or completion of workshops related to the field of Aquatic Fitness; examples include Water Kickboxing, Noodle Training, Arthritis Foundation, Silver Sneakers, etc are preferred. Prefer at least 1 year of previous teaching experience in the water with a variety of other cardio formats desired. Ability to adapt and modify exercise instruction based on participants abilities and needs. Must have strong customer skills with effective communication skills. Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

Duties:
Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Coordinator the Water Aerobics Instructor will have the primary responsibility of leading assigned group exercise/fitness classes and providing quality customer service. Individual will also offer useful, tactful, and safe advice to individuals regarding their exercise program and/or use of equipment; inform facility users of various fitness programs; assist with the maintenance of equipment and communicate needs and safety concerns to their Supervisor; assist in the planning and implementation of group exercise special events; and enforce all Fox Valley Park District and aquatics/fitness center policies at all times. Will be required to attend staff meetings and trainings and may be asked to sub for other classes. This is an at-will position.
