SALARY: 15.49 - 19.36 Hourly USD
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, perform clerical duties in support of civilian and/or sworn personnel. Performs paperwork entry and Law Enforcement database system entries and updates in accordance with federal, state, and local laws as well as Department policy and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
-Clearing of class C misdemeanors, including but notlimited to: Making attempts by phone, email, or postal mail to contactdefendants holding outstanding class C warrants.
-Presenting options for payment or appointments to appear.
-Assist sworn personnel in identifying and locating defendants with a class Cwarrant using various in-house research tools.
-May be required to make a profile for police contact if the defendant isunreachable or uncooperative.
-Operate as the primary point of contact for the public to check Class Cwarrant status and assist in the clearing of class C warrants in acourteous and professional manner.
-Receives phone calls and communications from the general public and assists ina professional and respectful manner in accordance with the Department Policies and guidelines. May direct calls to other persons as appropriate.
-Performs a variety of administrativechecks including but not limited to:
-Researching computerized and manual records for data to assist officers inidentifying and location subjects with outstanding Arlington warrants.
-Driver's License checks/verification, Criminal history/background checks
-Warrant checks/verification.
-Compile and maintain statistical data and reporting for the Warrant Unit.
-Update warrant status within theRegional Warrant Databases on a weekly basis
-Clear warrant status within the Regional Warrant Databases when warrants areresolved through payment or police contact.
-Defendant name verification by checking for clerical or typographical errorson the citation.
-Educate volunteers and interns on the warrant process.
-Administer and respond to requests for the Safe Leasing Program.
-General office duties, including but not limited to: Scanning, Copying, Filingand file organization.
-Payroll backup scheduler functions, including but not limited to: Entry/Modificationovertime and time-off/leave entries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills andAbilities Required:
Skillin using PC Software including current Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
Skill in communicating professionally with other city employees and the publicby oral and written means.
Skill with organization and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment utilizing theorganization's policies.
Ability to work independently under general instructions.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including but not limited tofiling, pulling, seeing, sorting, squatting, standing, stooping,twisting body, typing, walking, and writing.
Ability to operate office equipment including but not limited to PC, telephone,calculator, scanner, and copier.
Ability to prioritize deadlines and tasks.
Ability to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
Ability to plan, organize, and collaborate with internal and externalstakeholdersto accomplish unit objectives.
Ability to understand mathematical calculations involving fractions,percentages, and decimals.
Ability to work within a set schedule.
Ability to research and analyze information to identify trends and patterns.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
Ability to de-escalate potentially adversarial situations.
Knowledge of office and administrative practices and procedures.
Qualifying Education andExperience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
One (1) years of experience in a clerical or administrative support role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities that are plus, but will train to:
• Knowledge of Warrant issuance and execution procedures (Federal, State, andLocal).
• Knowledge of Regional Warrant Database systems.
• Knowledge of Law Enforcement Resource Management System (LERMS).
• Knowledge of Department of Justice (DOJ) regulations on warrant clearance.
• Knowledge of Law Enforcement Information Sharing (LEIS) systems.
• Knowledge of Safe Leasing Program procedures.
Education and Experiencethat is a plus but not required:
• College coursework in Criminal Justice, LawEnforcement Administration, or related field.
• Experience in a law enforcement or legal setting.
• Experience with data entry and database management.
• Experience with performing administrative checks, such as driver's licenseverification and background checks.
