The Vice President, Mission Advancement and Development reports to the CEO and leads the efforts for fundraising and good will public relations for the Children's Home Network. The VP plans and leads the development of an annual fundraising plan that meets the needs of the mission, looks to the future, and ensures strong donor relations continue from year to year. The goals and objectives are achieved through a solid working relationship with CHN colleagues, board members, donors, and community partners. The VP manages detail with the big picture in mind. They conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, both in the field of fundraising and in the not-for-profit sector. They bring enthusiasm for the mission and creativity in their approach in executing the duties of the position.
Job Duties:
- Ensures the continuity of procedures and practices within the development team.
- Leads and develops the Annual Fundraising Plan in coordination with key partners/stakeholders.
- Works well with colleagues, board members and donors/community partners.
- Organizes and coordinates fundraising events to include CHN sponsored events and third-party events.
- Engages in face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, & stewardship of new donors while maintaining strong engagement with existing donors.
- Prepares and coordinates the production of correspondence/written material to include thank you letters, newsletters, success stories and other promotional materials in partnership with key stakeholders and external contractors.
- Maintains active, promotional social media presence for CHN.
- Ensures donor database remains accurate and is used by team in accordance with expectations and procedures.
- Establishes measurements that lead to continuous quality improvement-to include evaluating success and identifying needs/weak points of current practice.
- Receives regular data reports from team to ensure best practice.
- Demonstrates skill in leading, building rapport and persuading/influencing others in order to achieve goals and objectives.
- Balances short term needs with long term needs. Achieves budgeted goals while building CHN endowment for long term sustainability.
- Capable leader who coaches, supports and leads team with expertise, achieving high performance.
- Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and maintains accountability to donors and ensures compliance with code of ethical principles and standards for professional conduct for fundraising professions.
- Understands the difference between unrestricted and restricted operating and endowment contributions.
- Provides a bi-monthly report to the Board on progress towards raising goals and objectives (ex. New donors contacted, campus tours, 3rd party funds raised, contributions, gifts in kind, social media posts, etc.) and annually a trending of year over year fund raising financial performance results.
- Attends and participates in Board meetings as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, in related field of study.
- Well established Tampa Bay connections preferred.
- Proven track record as a fundraising professional and leading multifaceted teams of other fundraising professionals.
- Demonstrated success identifying, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from individual donors and private foundations.
- Established record cultivating and maintaining major corporate partnerships.
- Successful experience building large donor bases and small-dollar donors.
- Demonstrated expertise implementing planned giving programs.
- Experience in building endowments. including planning and leading endowment campaigns
- Strong public relations skills with demonstrated ability to connect with donors in a way that makes them feel comfortable, valued and appreciated.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience developing and disseminating messages across multiple media platforms.
- Highly organized with strong organizational skills and ability to follow through.
- Self-motived, results-driven, with effective time management skills.
- Ability to work with high level of energy with a positive attitude.
- Proficiency in database management, Microsoft Office Suite, Raisers Edge, and other computer skills, as required.
