Job Summary:

Bay Colony Search has been retained to hire a VP of Finance for a small, but growing, industrial manufacturer in Baltimore. The company has started to expand across the US & has a new product that is already making waves and could surpass their original product in the next couple of years. You will report to the President and will be a strategic partner to him and the private equity sponsor. This is a smaller company with just one other person in Accounting/Finance so you must be both strategic and tactical; that means you will be making journal entries.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for month end close functions of the company by preparing journal entries and performing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and maintain annual budgets and multi-year forecast and perform analysis of budget/forecast variances and financial trends
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Monitor financial covenants of in debt agreements, prepare quarterly compliance reports, and maintain current lender relationships
  • Responsible for daily cash activities and capital distributions
  • Manage annual financial audit which includes developing audit schedule, ensuring required documentation is prepared in a timely manner, and interacting with the auditors
  • Present financials to Board on a quarterly basis
  • Partner with other leaders in the business to develop and implement process improvements and new technologies to create a more efficient accounting department
  • Evaluate potential acquisitions and assist with integration if one is completed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree mandatory and Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 8+ years of accounting and finance experience and must have worked for a small company of less than $30M
  • Willingness, and more importantly, desire to be part of a smaller company
  • Have worked at a manufacturing company
  • Ideally will have experience working for a private equity backed business
  • Capable of being a strategic partner to the CEO
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to a Board
  • Should have ERP implementation experience
