Obsidian Therapeutics is expanding the reach of TIL therapy. We are pioneering engineered tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapies to deliver transformative outcomes for patients suffering from solid tumor malignancies. On April 3, 2024, we announced closure of a significantly oversubscribed $160.5 million Series C financing with a top-tier syndicate of life science investors led by new investor, Wellington Management. Proceeds from the financing will advance Obsidian's lead program in its ongoing trials. We're focused on enrolling patients and reaching key clinical and regulatory milestones, as well as manufacturing scale-up ahead of pivotal trial readiness.

Our Opportunity

This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing an industry leading end to end global supply chain for clinical and commercial cell therapies in accordance with current good manufacturing practices, (cGMP). He/she will lead Obsidian's Global Supply Chain team inclusive of Materials Management, Supply Chain Planning and Systems, and Distribution and Logistics. Reporting to the CTO, he/she provides the leadership, strategic thinking, and results focus to reliably meet and/or exceed the company's supply chain goals while maintaining high levels of quality. The incumbent will define and deploy phase appropriate best in class supply chain and operational excellence tools and systems to drive continuous improvement, empower cross functional teams, and deliver to patients on-time. This position requires an individual capable of creating and maintaining exceptional partnerships across and outside the organization to manage a complex cell therapy supply chain and deliver transformative medicine to patients.

You Will

  • Define and implement global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and other key supply chain business practices and systems to ensure alignment and deliver exceptional service and transparency to key internal and external partners including Manufacturing, Quality, Clinical, Commercial, and Finance.
  • Ensure availability of production materials through mutually beneficial strategic supplier agreements and relationships, proactive risk management, and rigorous contract management and administration.
  • Select and manage global clinical distribution and logistics partners employing strong governance from strategic to daily management oversight to ensure delivery, cost and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Partner with Clinical Operations to define patient scalpel to vein targets and ensure the highest service levels of on-time delivery of product for infusion.
  • Partner with Quality Operations to define and implement the material and distribution control standards and procedures including Chain of Custody (COC) and Chain of Identity (COI) as part of Obsidian's overall Quality Management System; demonstrate and instill a quality culture in internal and external practices and interactions.
  • Partner with Technical Operations leadership and Finance to define, model, and realize long term strategic improvements in cost of goods sold (COGS).
  • Partner with IT to define and implement a digital supply chain strategy including key information systems for supply planning and global inventory management.
  • Develop and build a high performing team of supply chain professionals to execute department responsibilities and achieve corporate and department objectives. Ensure effective engagement, integrated and collaborative execution, and robust development.
  • Establish department, service provider, and individual goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) in alignment with company and operational goals; maintain and report applicable department and delivery metrics and partner with Quality Operations to conduct periodic Business Reviews with each critical supplier / service provider.
  • Drive continuous improvement and Operational Excellence culture through self-detecting and self-correcting processes and systems and instilling strong ownership and accountability.
  • Develop and manage department's annual operating budgets; partner with Finance to analyze variances and implement adjustments.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate operational, quality, and organizational risks through formal risk management and business continuity planning; escalate key risks and issues.

You Bring

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 20+ years, or Master's degree and 15+ years of related biopharmaceutical work experience. Minimum of 10 years in management / leadership positions of increasing scope and responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading supply chain teams in fast paced cGMP environments.
  • Strong preference for experience in cell and/or gene therapy.
  • Experience establishing global distribution routes for raw materials, human tissues, and drug product; strong understanding of international trade compliance laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills; great attention to detail and the ability to drive timely and fact based cross functional decision making in complex, high consequence scenarios.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both internal and external.
  • Proven ability to thrive as a leader in a fast-paced dynamic environment, successfully building, motivating, developing, and retaining high performing teams.
  • A leadership approach that inspires confidence, credibility, and trust internally (within and across teams) and externally. You're adept at inviting different perspectives, facilitating data-based decision making, and building buy-in.
  • Exceptional record of delivering on plans, including robust risk management and transparent communications.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support on-site oversight and meetings.
