Teen Summer Program Opportunity
Join Our Exciting New Teen Summer Program.This unique opportunity combines service and education, allowing teens to make a meaningful impact while learning about the diverse disciplines within our hospital.
Service Opportunities: - Helping Patients and Families: Assist with navigation and provide a friendly face to those in need.
- Activities in Waiting Areas: Engage patients and families with fun and supportive activities.
- Departmental Support: Offer valuable assistance to various hospital departments.
Educational Component:Participants will gain insights into the different medical and non-medical disciplines, enhancing their understanding of hospital operations and healthcare careers.
Volunteer Requirements: - Who: Teens 16-18 yrs old
- When: The Summer Teen Program will be a half day program Monday - Thursday. Shifts will take place from 9-12 and 1-4 with a required 12:00pm Lunch and Learn.
- Where: Children's of Alabama Downtown Campus
- Cost: Volunteer uniform is $15
- Commitment: Applicants must commit to a 4-week session. Two absences will be allowed.
Onboarding Process: - Complete the online application:
- Provide a copy of the following vaccination records-Tdap, MMR, and Varicella.
- 2 Reference Contacts.
- Essay Portion:
- Two full pages typed.
- Written in size 12 point font - Times New Roman.
- The essay should address the following prompts:
- Tell us about yourself and why you are interested in the summer teen program.
- What skills or qualities do you possess that would make you a strong candidate?
- Describe a meaningful experience you have had working with children or volunteering in the community.
- What do you hope to learn or gain from your experience this summer?
- Interview-this will also provide you with an overview of program expectations, the onboarding process, and specifics about available volunteer openings.
- Tuberculosis blood test.
- General hospital orientation (online).
Note: All onboarding steps must be completed prior to program participation.
