DescriptionPosition Purpose The Volunteer Services Manager - Retention and Training exemplifies our commitment to providing consistent, meaningful volunteer experience through our volunteer engagement and hospitality principles, ensuring that we prepare, empower, and appreciate each volunteer who serves with Habitat Charlotte Region. The Volunteer Services Manager - Retention and Training focuses on the strategy and execution of day-to-day volunteer management tasks associated with the retention, satisfaction, and recognition of volunteers. This includes developing new volunteer opportunities, implementing volunteer feedback and recognition systems, and supervising special events and youth programming.
Essential Functions - Together with the Sr. Manager of Volunteer Services, ensure successful design and creative growth of the organization's volunteer programs.
- Assist with the assessment of organizational capacity and goals and provide volunteer programs solutions where able.
- Construction to the design and structure of volunteer programs and integrate the programmatic efforts of mission and issue awareness into all volunteer activities of the organization.
- Ensure all programs are compliant with policies and procedures.
- Prepare for the effective management of volunteers through the states of retention, evaluation, and recognition toward long-term commitment and engagement.
- Collect feedback on volunteer program efforts, both in the effectiveness of meeting program goals, and volunteer satisfaction; participate in volunteer shifts at least twice annually for first-hand experience.
- Work with the Sr. Manager of Volunteer Services to facilitate staff training to ensure consistent, meaningful volunteer experiences through a commitment to proper orientation, hospitality, and accountability.
- In coordination with other project teams: work to ensure that volunteer needs are well-represented in monthly newsletters, social media, and other content development.
- Establish volunteer recognition and appreciation structure and coordinate associated events/activities.
- Along with Volunteer Project Specialist, forecast group and individuals Special Projects and Youth engagement opportunities annually.
- Manage entry of volunteer hours into Salesforce for all special events.
- Help maintain volunteer database to keep accurate records of the affiliate's constituents.
- Create meaningful volunteer stewardship opportunities and appreciation events for individuals and group volunteers across the affiliate.
QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Experience in volunteer administration and relationship management.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Dedication to positive volunteer experience critical to Habitat operations
- Effective communication internally and externally to maintain an atmosphere where volunteer opportunities are consistently available as an ongoing public relations effort.
- Self-motivated and directed with the ability to think independently and strategically.
- Work flexible hours, primarily Tues-Sat, including some evening and Sun-Mon commitments.
- Ability to visit job sites to assist with volunteer check-in
- Computer skills, including database management and web management (preferred Microsoft Office and Salesforce).
- Exercise mature, discrete judgment- capable of making independent and effective decisions and work without close supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Work Environment This position supervises the Volunteer Project Specialist and an AmeriCorps member.
Physical Demands - Ability to work in an office environment as needed which requires ability to speak, hear, with the visual and manual dexterity to manage papers, reports, and typing. Must embody the capacity to maintain the following for several hours at a time: use of personal computer of similar technology, phone, sitting as required.
- Ability to stand and walk construction job sites for several hours at a time.
- Ability to lift 20lbs unassisted.
