DescriptionSUMMARY As a member of the Development team, the Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for the cultivation and stewardship of relationships with volunteers, donors, and other constituents. The Volunteer Services Coordinator must demonstrate helpful and professional interaction with all stakeholders. This includes day-to-day recruitment, training and placement of volunteers within the Haven for Hope Campus with a particular emphasis on faith-based volunteers, both individuals and groups; professionally interacting and coordinating with Haven departments and Partner Agencies requiring volunteers; coordinating large service projects, tours, recruitment events, volunteer recognition events, presentations, fundraising/friend-raising events and other special events. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Oversite and coordination of all faith-based volunteers, including both individuals and groups, including new volunteer orientations, volunteer assignments, volunteer calendars, communications with staff and volunteers, and oversite of volunteer activities.
- Coordination of stipend workers supporting programs and events facilitated by faith-based volunteers, including coordination of stipend worker scheduling, communications with stipend workers, and completing all necessary documentation relating to the stipend worker program.
- Initiate contact with community faith groups and congregations. Provide presentations and group discussions on Haven for Hope's mission, history, populations, and operations to these groups with the aim of fostering, developing, and maintaining relationships between Haven and faith groups.
- Work closely with the Development team to create and cultivate new and existing relationships with faith communities and congregations.
- Increase awareness, exposure, and understanding of Haven's mission and operations by making in-person visits, speaking to representatives over the phone, and as appropriate otherwise connecting with potential partners in the faith community.
- Develop relationships and identify opportunities and avenues for current Haven clients to connect with outside-faith communities to find their own future faith and spiritual home.
- Conduct tours for outside groups, including but not limited to organizations in the faith communities and congregations, to build awareness of Haven's mission and operations to further promote the essential duties and responsibilities outlined herein.
- A weekly schedule that matches our faith-based volunteer groups, including early evenings and Saturdays. Preferably 12-8, Tuesday through Saturday.
- Oversite of our Soul Friends volunteer program, including screening of volunteers, training of volunteers, regular communications, scheduling, and oversite.
- Scheduling, tracking, coordination, and communication for all agency tours (except VIP tours), including Variety Tours and miscellaneous tours.
- Oversee and coordinate all agency donation drives, including communications with volunteers and staff, with particular emphasis on communications with the Donation Center team.
- Complete regular reports and provide other deliverables reflecting successes achieved through third-party engagement.
- Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEXPERIENCE/EDUCATION - 3+ years' experience working with faith communities and/or at-risk populations preferred.
- Have the ability to relate to individuals from all walks of life and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
KNOWLDEGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES - Ability to balance and prioritize simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Technical aptitude in software documentation and project coordination; ability to learn and apply concurrent documentation techniques; knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required, and knowledge and familiarity with Salesforce is preferred but not required for this position.
- Knowledge of and openness toward diverse faiths, traditions, and spiritual practices.
- Ability to relate to persons from diverse cultures, religions, races, ethnic groups, and generations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to express oneself effectively in both formal and informal settings, whether with groups or in a one-on-one conversation with the public, staff, clients, and partners on campus.
- Possess honor and respect for human dignity, diverse faith expressions, and the many cultures of the entire Community (clients, staff, and volunteers) at Haven for Hope.
- Be sensitive to the dynamics of homeless individuals and families. Possess excellent judgment and the ability to handle crisis situations maturely and calmly.
- This position will have a typical work schedule of Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, the candidate must have the flexibility to accommodate tours, presentations, events, and other engagements that may happen during other hours and days, as necessary.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Bilingual (Spanish) speech skills are preferred but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Texas Driver's License, a good driving record, reliable transportation, and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work purposes. The position will be eligible for monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work-related expenditures, subject to the terms of applicable company policies. Travel within the City of San Antonio and its surrounding areas will be required occasionally.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS Standard physical activity such as periodic standing, walking, sitting, and basic motor skills to access computer files for information or simple data entry.
