Job Title: Volunteer Program Coordinator - Part-Time
Reports to: Conservation Engagement & Volunteer Program Manager

Pay Rate: $16.00/hr
Schedule: 16-24 hours/week

Position Summary: The Volunteer Program Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a thriving and engaged volunteer community at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. This position supports the zoo's mission by ensuring a seamless volunteer experience from recruitment to recognition, enabling volunteers to contribute meaningfully to zoo operations and conservation goals.
The coordinator will manage processes that ensure volunteers feel appreciated, supported, and connected to the zoo's purpose. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers and staff.

Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
  • Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage recruitment efforts, oversee onboarding processes, and track progress to ensure new volunteers are prepared for success.
  • Program Coordination: Maintain updated documentation, organize volunteer schedules, and ensure seamless collaboration with zoo teams and departments.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Develop appreciation initiatives, facilitate communication, and provide support to ensure volunteers feel valued and connected to the zoo's mission.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong, professional relationships with volunteers and staff, promoting a culture of mutual respect and collaboration.
  • Technical and Training Support: Provide guidance on platforms like Better Impact and coordinate training sessions for volunteers in specialized roles.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in coordinating teams or managing people-oriented initiatives preferred.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software tools and platforms for program management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
Working Conditions: The Volunteer Program Coordinator will work in both office and zoo environments, requiring the ability to move across zoo grounds, engage with volunteers and staff, and attend occasional evening or weekend events.
