Are you a Veteran, retired, or a couple located in Outagamie County looking to do something meaningful with your spare time?
If this describes you, Preceptor Hospice has an opportunity for you to become a Hospice Volunteer. Become part of a team that provides care, compassion, and the final wishes to patients during their final journey.
A Preceptor Hospice Volunteer will become a trained individual who provides visits and support to patients and their families. You do not need any prior medical experience. All you need is to a willingness to be present with a patient during their final life journey.
This is how you can help:
- Visit with the patient, on your time schedule, where they live
- Assist with letter writing or other projects
- Read to the patient or join them in watching a favorite TV program
- Play games with the patient
- Take the patient outside or for a walk
- Reminisce with them about their military career, profession, family, and listen to their stories
- Be a comforting support and presence
This is a volunteer role and does not provide an hourly wage or other compensation
Volunteer Requirements:
- 18 years of age and older
- TB testing
- Background and reference check
- Valid driver's license & proof of auto insurance
- Orientation & Training
