Job Description Summary

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities in the organization.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation programs.
  1. Recruits, educates and selects volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year.
  1. Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and the entire hospice team.
  1. Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
  1. Maintains monthly statistics.
  1. Maintains current personnel files.
  1. Reevaluate the volunteer program as necessary.
  1. Coordinate support/education meetings.
  1. Attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
  1. Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
  1. Participate as needed in the budget preparation for program development.
  1. Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.
  1. Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.
Position Qualifications

  1. College degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
  1. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a health care setting. Hospice and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  1. Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
  1. Understands hospice philosophy.
  1. Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.
  1. Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
