Volunteer Coordinator / Adoption Counselor Galveston County Health District is seeking a passionate Volunteer Coordinator / Adoption Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will coordinate volunteer activities, support animal adoptions, and promote public education on animal welfare in accordance with the latest Animal Services Interlocal Agreement guidelines.

What You'll Do: - Maintain and manage the volunteer schedule and database
- Coordinate and participate in volunteer outreach and recruitment activities
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain volunteers
- Provide detailed information about animals and guide potential adopters through the adoption process
- Implant microchips for shelter and public animals safely and accurately
- Promote live release and public education through off-site events and awareness campaigns
- Crosstrain with administrative staff to support daily operations
- Transport animals using GCHD or personal vehicles as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
What We're Looking For: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfort and experience in basic animal handling
- Solid knowledge of domestic animal breeds, behavior, care, and safe handling
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Experience with multi-tasking, office organization, and administrative duties
- Previous work in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic preferred
- Volunteer coordination experience is a plus
- Ability to provide reliable transportation without depending on company vehicles
- Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain one
- Must pass a satisfactory DMV/MVR background check
- Customer service-oriented
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, social media, data entry, and image creation
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as needed
- Compliance with GCHD immunization and ICS training requirements
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
