VMWare Engineer
Patriot, LLC is seeking a VMware Engineer to join our team supporting a Homeland Security customer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VMware technologies and be passionate about designing, implementing, and maintaining virtualization solutions in a mission-critical environment.
This position is an onsite role, 5 days a week and requires a secret clearance.
Job-Specific Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, focusing on server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Configure and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and other VMware components.
- Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Provision, deploy, and manage virtual machines (VMs), templates, and snapshots.
- Implement and maintain security measures for virtualized environments, including access controls, network segmentation, and VM isolation.
- Create and maintain documentation related to virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Active Secret clearance.
- Due to federal requirements, all candidates must be US Citizens without Dual Citizenship to another country.
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- This is an on-site position at a government facility.
- Requires presence on-site five days per week in Annapolis Junction, MD.
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance.
- Participation in a rotational on-call schedule for emergency page-outs is required.
- Proven experience as a VMware Engineer or similar role, with expertise in designing and managing VMware vSphere environments.
- Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere features and capabilities, including vCenter Server, ESXi hosts, vMotion, HA, DRS, and vSAN.
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methodologies for virtualized environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
