Role Overview

We are seeking a Visual/Brand/UX Designer on a contract basis to support our customer's business needs. This role is remote in NYC or San Francisco. The designer will be responsible for enhancing brand expression across product surfaces, collaborating with product design teams, and pushing creative boundaries in iconography, illustration, and brand systems. The ideal candidate is innovative, adaptable, and experienced in digital design and product environments.

Responsibilities

1. Create illustrations to support in-product features.
2. Conceptualize and prototype brand expression in product experiences, defining style and emotional tone.
3. Develop the visual identity within the design system, including product patterns and UI.
4. Present strategic design ideas to stakeholders.
5. Seek feedback and explore creative opportunities to refine styles and approaches.
6. Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, maintaining brand consistency.
7. Translate product needs into engaging, user-friendly designs.
8. Participate in team critiques, design sprints, and workshops.
9. Manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and ensure project progress.
10. Communicate design directions clearly while executing hands-on design work.

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio demonstrating product, branding, and communication design experience.
• 10+ years of professional experience in visual design for web, desktop, and mobile platforms.
• Experience with design systems at scale and visual storytelling.
• Proficiency in tools like Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, G-Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Deep understanding of visual hierarchy, color, forms, semiotics, and aesthetics.
• Knowledge of systems design principles and design language development.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working within design and product teams, familiarity with 3D, motion, and AI tools.
