Visual and Social Media Manager

Reports To: Director of Marketing

Work Schedule: Typically 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with some required presence at off schedule events.

Position Summary

The ideal candidate will understand and anticipate the marketing needs for HEathwood's busy school events, activities, and special occasions. Overall, the Visual and Social Media Manager will enhance the schools online presence, manage social media campaigns, and support the marketing department with any and all marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will work well with the team and independently to accomplish key performance indicators for social media success.

Essential Functions

Social Media 35%
  • Work with Marcom Director to shape and execute social media strategy
  • Utilize social media planning platforms to schedule content
  • Plan, create, and post graphic, photographic, and video content for social media outlets such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and X.
  • Maintain communication with school divisions (EC/LS, MS, US) departments
(admissions, arts, athletics, college counseling, development, dining commons, library, PEAK) and support organizations (ie: Heathwood Athletics Booster Club, Heathwood Parent Association), to:
  • Promote upcoming events
  • Photograph events
  • Create social media posts (may involve graphic design)
  • Monitor engagement of social media across various outlets
  • Keep abreast of social media trends. Monitor regional independent school social media presence.
  • Coordinate with those running other official Heathwood social media accounts: Athletics, Alumni, Middle School, Theater, etc.
Photography (45%)
  • Take photos of events, activities, and daily life on campus
  • Curate, maintain and update internally shared photo archives
  • Create and maintain outward-facing SmugMug galleries of big campus events
  • Archive all photographs
  • Update content of digital display monitors across campus
  • Communicate with third-party photography vendors retained by Marcom
  • Assist with photo requests and selection for collateral production and website updates
Specific Job Skills

Design (15%)
  • Provide design and graphic support to departments and divisions to create digital and print collateral such as save the dates, invitations, event reminders, programs, posters, stickers, spirit shirts, monitor graphics, etc.
Brand Management (5%)
  • Work with Marcom Director to ensure proper branding is used on all outward-facing collateral produced by all on-campus and auxiliary departments and divisions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for colleagues who need guidance with the creation of branded materials.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute campus events and seasonal decorations, ensuring a welcoming and visually engaging environment that reflects school spirit and community values.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing related field, Master's Degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in marketing or social media management, preferred
Working Conditions
  • Expansive school campus with 122+ acres, must be able to travel between buildings independently.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending may be required throughout the day at various intervals
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
