Position Summary:

The Department of Kinesiology in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a full-time visiting Assistant or Associate Professor in Athletic Training, to begin fall 2025. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member in the master of athletic training program and kinesiology department, advise and mentor athletic training students, engage in professional development/scholarship, and support the athletic training program. The candidate will be able to identify an area of contemporary expertise within athletic training. In addition to the Master of Athletic Training program, the School of Education and Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate health professions programs including Exercise Science, Nutrition Science, Health Science, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physician Assistant Studies in a collaborative and interprofessional environment.

The duties in this role include:

  • Teaching courses (primary focus of this position)
  • Design assessment strategies
  • Evaluate student work and progression of learning
  • Support strategies to teach and evaluate all relevant CAATE curricular standards
  • Mentor students
  • Mentor athletic training students and pre-athletic training students
  • Maintain an active professional development agenda
  • Engage in programmatic and departmental initiatives
  • Engage in institutional initiatives


Basic qualifications are required at the time of application:
  • Post-professional master's degree in a related field.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in Illinois.
  • Certified athletic trainer by the Board of Certification.
  • Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students.

Preferred qualifications
(not required qualifications for the position):
  • Doctoral degree or an in-progress doctoral degree is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants who are skilled in using innovative and student-centered pedagogical strategies are particularly valued.

Additional Information:

The budgeted salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
