Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Virtualization Engineer to support a federal project with the U.S. Mint. This role is fully remote and requires a seasoned professional with hands-on experience managing Nutanix, VMware, and other virtual environments in a secure federal setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily health checks of VMware and Nutanix infrastructure
Deploy, configure, and maintain Nutanix hardware and VMware ESXi environments
Architect and implement migrations from VMware to Nutanix AHV to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Patch, harden, and upgrade Nutanix clusters, vCenter, and ESXi hosts
Support disaster recovery strategies using VMware SRM and Nutanix DR
Migrate file servers to Nutanix Files (CIFS shares)
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide Tier 3 support
Collaborate with team members to enhance security and system performance
Document procedures and create runbooks for repeatable processes
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, and Hyper-V
Experience with Nutanix cluster deployments and maintenance
Strong understanding of virtualization security and hardening best practices
Familiarity with backup technologies (Cohesity, Veeam, NetBackup)
Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities
Skills & Requirements
Preferred Certifications:
Nutanix Certified Associate or higher
CompTIA Security+
ITIL v4 Foundation
Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA)
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fiel
