Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer (Hyper-V) Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US The Opportunity: CACI is looking for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) / Hyper-V Engineer to support our customer to provide a common set of required EIT services across USAF bases to implement a consistent, high-quality experience for users across all mission environments and enable USAF to transition focus from network operations to mission operations. In this role, you will be part of a team providing solutions to technical issues related to networking, computing, and security. As a VDI /Hyper -V Engineer, you will be integral in the planning and implementation to automate deployment of virtual machines (VMs) that will be used for development of future services. Responsibilities: Contribute to the design and implementation of VDI solutions that align with the organization's goals and requirements which includes hardware and software components, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Implement and maintain security best practices for VDI
Build and maintain the VDI infrastructure and supporting base images.
Implement best practice configurations that optimize the virtual infrastructure, network, storage, and overall environment of the solution.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems, performing network maintenance and operations, and ensuring that clients are satisfied with their services.
Document and communicate technical information to clients, as well as collaborating with other team members to develop and implement new solutions.
Monitor VDI performance, identify potential issues, and recommend and implement solutions following standard release processes. Optimize infrastructure for cost-effectiveness, performance, and scalability. Identify and address performance bottlenecks and resource utilization issues.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and templates to streamline provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to support application development and deployment.
Maintain documentation of architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
Participate in Planning, Backlog refinement and prioritization, and Retrospectives.
Participate in the full life cycle of activities including deployment and validation efforts to ensure product success and will follow all established processes and standards. Qualifications: Required: Work onsite in Chantilly
Current and Active DoD Secret clearance
Bachelors Degree (will consider 5 additional years of experience in lieu of degree)
10 or more years of system administration, engineering or related experience which includes the following: 5+ years' experience setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure and Kubernetes
5+ years' experience integrating, securing, and understanding the following Microsoft platform services (both in Windows OS and in Azure Cloud): Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Windows AD-integrated PKI, Single Sign On (SSO) implementation
5+ years' experience in handling logs and metrics at a high scale
5+ years' experience with Azure, Virtualization, Windows Servers, M365, Networks, Storage and Active Directory
3+ years' cumulative experience with Hyper-V (implementing, managing, configuring)
3+ years' cumulative experience with log management, network firewalls, and testing
Demonstrated experience tracking down root cause of a service/application failure using logs and CLI-based tools.
Hands on cloud migration experience
Experience with securing systems by following STIGs, best practices, and government/compliance requirements (such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, FEDRAMP), and negotiating/working-with IA personnel to arrive at sensible and effective solutions
Knowledge of systems administration in Linux environments and/or Windows Server environments, ideally both. Desired: One of the following certifications: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate
2+ years' recent (within the past 3 years) cumulative experience with Azure Cloud Computing.
One of the following certifications: CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, MSCE, RHEL
5+ years' hands-on experience creating, analyzing, and automating Linux scripts (Python, Command, Bash, C, Ansible)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients
Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work well under pressure
