Alexander Rose International are looking for a Vice President of Preconstruction for a local GC in Charlotte, NC. My client has two office within the Southeast and and has been operating for 50+ years. We are looking for an individual to lead all preconstruction efforts, with ideal experience is Commercial, Industrial and Education.
Summary
The Vice President of Preconstruction is responsible for the successful performance and overall leadership, management and accountability of all preconstruction functions within the department and organization. This position ensures that all preconstruction efforts align with company policies, procedures and goals, while providing accurate, competitive and complete budgets and estimates throughout the various preconstruction phases of our projects. Additionally, the Vice President will be the primary lead for developing Conceptual Estimates and will manage preconstruction and design management activities for all Design-Build projects. The Vice President is responsible for generating the strategic direction for the department including goals, staff development and resource planning, with reporting functions to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, mentoring and strategic direction to the Preconstruction team.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet quarterly and annual department goals to align with overall company goals.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Preconstruction Department staff to enhance their professional growth.
- Establish and report departmental goals, key department metrics and results to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including analysis of required resources to meet overall goals and objectives.
- Ensure adherence to company processes, procedures, and best practices in all preconstruction activities.
- Establish and enforce standardized templates, qualification processes, and reporting systems to ensure consistency and accuracy in estimates and proposals.
- Manage departmental workflow and resource assignments to ensure efficiency and accuracy and achieving deadlines for preconstruction deliverables.
- Review and ensure that all budgets, estimates and project qualifications align with project goals, client expectations and are complete, detailed, accurate, competitive and have mitigated company risk.
- Manage the department efforts to identify, qualify and expand the subcontractor and trade partner database.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in construction management, Engineering, or related degree.
- 12+ years estimating/pre-construction experience in commercial construction.
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing diverse teams and projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Proficiency in preconstruction software and tools, such as Procore, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
- Ability to anticipate future trends and create innovative strategies that position the department and company for long-term success.
