Job Summary

The Specialized Recruiting Group is seeking a results-driven Single Family General Manager to lead field operations for a residential construction firm client of ours in Charlotte, NC. This role is responsible for coordinating area managers, supervisors, and field crews to deliver high-quality, on-schedule work while maintaining cost control and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and a passion for team development.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of managers, supervisors, and field crews across job sites.
  • Forecast labor and material needs in partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as schedule adherence, job cost, and quality metrics.
  • Champion digital tools to streamline field reporting and enhance Real Time visibility.
  • Ensure safety compliance and adherence to building codes and quality standards.

Financial Management

  • Monitor labor and material costs to stay within budget and drive efficiency.
  • Partner with purchasing and logistics teams to reduce waste and control job costs.
  • Review financial reports and identify cost-saving strategies.
  • Contribute to annual budget planning and ongoing financial performance tracking.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews with area managers and supervisors.
  • Mentor and develop team leaders to promote accountability and operational excellence.
  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional departments to ensure project success.
  • Support employee development initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex operational and business challenges.
  • Track record of driving cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced leader with a positive, team-oriented mindset and a passion for people development.
  • Extensive background in field operations and managing large, distributed teams.
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and motivating teams to achieve performance goals.
  • Strong multitasking and analytical skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Power BI.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments and adaptable to changing business needs.
  • Demonstrated use of data analysis and business acumen to identify trends and drive strategy.
