VICE PRESIDENT OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE - UP TO 300K BASE SALARY

Our client in Arlington, VA is looking for a VP of Accounting and Finance to join their team. The organization has been around for over 30 years, and have a very collaborative team, and well as tremendous growth happening. The ideal candidate will have their CPA, public accounting, and extensive experience with employee benefit plan administration.

LOCATION: Arlington, VA - very metro accessible, but also offer discounted employee garage parking

Position Summary:

Leads and directs the Insurance and Financial Services (I&FS), Finance and Accounting Team, which provides comprehensive finance and accounting services related to the Organization's complex multiple employer health & welfare and retirement plans (the "Plans") with over $25 billion in net assets. Directs the preparation of all financial reports and tax returns for the Plans in accordance with GAAP, ERISA, and IRS code. Provides oversight for all of the financial functions of I&FS and the Plans. Provides leadership and ensures collaboration for the submission of information and ongoing monitoring of certain external third party service providers to the Plans including the trustee/custodial bank, independent fiduciaries, independent accounting firms, external auditing firms, etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Finance/Accounting/Business
  • CPA required
  • Masters degree a plus, but not required
  • At least 10+years of progressive accounting/finance/budgeting experience in employee benefit plans
  • Prior experience in Public Accounting and in the Employee Benefit Plan Administration industry (Group Insurance Plans and Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Retirement Plans) and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ERISA regulations and financial compliance
  • 5+ years management experience
  • Experience serving as a financial advisor to executive management and Board of Directors.
  • Experience successfully managing competing deadlines and multiple projects at various stages of development using effective organization skills and attention to detail.
