The Office of the Chancellor of the California State University System (CSU), the largest, most diverse and most consequential university system in the United States, seeks a highly skilled and experienced leader to serve as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (VC-AA). The VC-AA will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Academic Affairs at CSU, leading the division through a strategic transition. The Division of Academic and Student Affairs
The current Division of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) supports faculty and student success across the 23 CSU universities. ASA aims to provide an enriching educational experience through skilled faculty, staff, and support services that promote student success, enhance faculty performance, and foster community. ASA focuses on teaching, learning, research, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. It collaborates with campuses, the Chancellor's Office, the Board of Trustees, educational segments nationwide, and state agencies to address students' educational needs and challenges.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Chancellor of the CSU System and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the VC-AA will lead the new Division of Academic Affairs by managing the human and fiscal resources to fulfill the educational mission of the California State University. As an executive leader of the 23-university system, the VC-AA will be expected to collaborate with the other 23 university leaders and the Chancellor's Council. The VC-AA is responsible for advancing and promoting comprehensive and strategic planning and facilitating the development and functioning of the academic programs of the California State University System.
Partnering closely with the Chancellor, the future Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success, and the members of the Chancellor's executive team, the VC-AA will create a comprehensive student success plan and provide strategic counsel to the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees in deliberations about academic needs and the implications associated with major institutional choices, including re-envisioning higher education for the future.
The VC-AA will support and strengthen collaborative relationships with the campus presidents and the provosts and vice presidents of academic affairs. Moreover, the VC-AA will promote and embrace shared governance in substantive academic issues; foster a culture of responsiveness, collaboration, innovation, and excellence; and advance inclusivity, equity and commitment to the power of diversity. As CSU embarks on a structural evolution, the new VC-AA will work in close partnership with the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success, ensuring that CSU continues to set new benchmarks for access, academic achievement, and service to the citizens of California.
