Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. WRPS seeks an Engineer to act as the Tank Farm Waste Transfer Systems Cognizant System Engineer directly supporting the Tank Farm Operations Contract (TOC) and WRPS Engineering. Work activities will include a variety of engineering duties including, but not limited to: Maintain the technical baseline Maintain a working knowledge of the documented safety analysis and environmental permits Make technically defendable, decisions on engineering issues, and represent the WRPS Engineering organization in meetings with other company organizations and/or with the client and other stakeholders Coordinate with WRPS Retrieval & Closure, Projects, Construction, Operations, One System, Waste Treatment Plant organizations to ensure that client and company commitments are met Manage and/or monitor assigned systems Manage resources to support resolution of system issues in a timely manner Monitor and support ongoing operations and activities Input to/develop and approve (as necessary) system related work packages, operating procedures and ECNs Review and approve new or changes to operating or maintenance procedures Review and approve requirements for preventive maintenance, surveillances, and establish post maintenance testing Implementation of the WRPS System Engineer Program Obtain and maintain qualification for assigned system Serve as TOC technical expert for the requirements contained in the Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) Define and maintain TOC System technical baseline documents and design change documents Monitor and trend system performance and reliability Prepare and present System Status Reports on routine intervals Conduct field walk downs, develop specifications, perform and/or review calculations, development/review technical and operability evaluations, and performance of design review, procedural review Coordinate and integrate technical information and activities for engineering personnel for assigned secondary-systems(s) in support of the main system(s) assignment. This position will routinely interface with Tank Farm Stakeholders including WRPS Management, Operations, & other Staff, WRPS Engineering Team, DOE/ORP/DNFSB, WADOE, vendors, etc. regarding their assigned System and company commitments, as well as interface with external oversight agencies is expected and required Please Note: This position is being advertised under the current Tank Operations Contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS). However, now that transition activities have begun a candidate selected for employment may be hired under the incoming contractor, Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) contract. Required Qualifications Grade 16: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Two (2) years of related experience Grade 17: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Five (5) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Grade 18: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline; and Seven (7) years of related experience Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is greatly increased. Desired Qualifications Previous experience with operations and maintenance of Waste Transfer Systems. Previous experience working on a nuclear site. Previous experience working in nuclear safety. Previous experience in the assessment of the health and operability of safety systems. Compensation & Benefits In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
