PDS Tech Commercial is currently looking for a Vehicle Simulation Software Engineer for our motorsport client in Santa Clarita, CA

Summary:

Design, produce, maintain, and refine mathematical software models and analysis tools for the purposes of vehicle performance simulation and optimization.

Develop vehicle modelling simulation tools.

Create and develop models of vehicles to be tested on the DIL simulator.

Gather characterization data for relevant vehicle systems.

Help validate aero models in client's vehicle performance simulation tools.

Work with groups to validate powertrain models used in vehicle simulation.

Contribute to development of vehicle dynamics simulation platforms (debug and validate tools).

Support rig testing to characterize systems: suspension kinematics and compliance, center of mass, inertia, shaker, wind tunnel, etc.

Help to create rig and track test plans, attend tests, and create reports.

Communicate on project and testing status.

Present/report results in a format that is clear and complete.

Create and post technical reports in a timely manner.

Control documents (including electronic documents) per records retention policy.

Liaise with HRC engineers and racing team partners.

Maintain communication and collaboration our client, and external partners.

Develop software within the ecosystem of client's vehicle performance tools and methods.

Programming of vehicle simulation models and systems in C or Dymola.

Self-educate and employ modern software development best practices.

Create software tools to efficiently analyze chassis and vehicle performance data from multiple sources (test rig, simulation, and circuit).

Design, implement, test, and maintain vehicle control system software

Requires:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Master's Degree is preferred.
  • 3 years of processing and analysis of time-series data in time, frequency, and spatial domains (visualization, signal processing), using MATLAB or Python.
  • 3 years of software programming experience in C .
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in development of Dymola models (preferred).
  • 3 years industry experience in software programming with MATLAB or Python .
  • 3 years' experience in developing controls systems using Simulink (preferred).
  • Proficient in the use of supervised machine learning technologies, for regression of non-linear models.
  • Technical knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and chassis systems: aerodynamics, suspension, tires, etc
MUST HAVE
  • Proven excellent ability to communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in written form to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Previous experience working in a fast paced, time critical and sensitive environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Detailed oriented individual who can work effectively under pressure in a culturally diverse environment.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Able to identify and resolve routine problems.
  • Strong Windows PC and software knowledge including MS Office products.
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Pay Details: $1,634.00 to $1,923.00 per week
