Job Description Active Secret Clearance Required The MVM (Motor Vehicle Mechanic) will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining both light and heavy-duty construction vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance, consistent with AFSC 2T351 qualification standards (available online).
• Assess the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment.
• Identify and correct deficiencies.
• Analyze malfunctions through visual, auditory, or diagnostic equipment.
• Utilize diagnostic test equipment to diagnose and repair electronic-controlled equipment.
• Repair, adjust, overhaul, or replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as: Power and drive trains, Electrical systems, Air conditioning, Fuel, emission, and brake systems, steering assemblies, tracks, hydraulic systems, and equipment attachments.
• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble gasoline or diesel engines and components.
• Replace worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.
• Perform grinding, fitting, balancing, and arrange for welding or machining as needed.
• Adjust valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, traction units, and other equipment-specific systems.
• Time injection pumps and accessory shaft gear trains.
• Align bearing loads, gear tooth contact, and backlash to manufacturer specifications.
• Reassemble, adjust, and test repaired units for proper operation.
• Perform preventive and special maintenance tasks according to manufacturer maintenance schedules.
• Ensure corrosion control, winterization, storage, and shipment procedures are followed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities. This position is located overseas. Basic Job Requirements High school diploma / GED equivalent preferred. two (2) years to four (4) years related experience. Requires the technical skills, job knowledge and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and or major equipment manufacturer certification preferred. • Technically trained to work with computerized shop equipment and electronic components while also maintaining experience and skills with traditional hand tools.
• Have experience with and training in using specific manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic tools to include but not limited to: scan, brake, air conditioning, and transmission tools.
• Have experience and training in understanding and using vehicle electrical schematics.
• Ability to perform required administrative paperwork for vehicle repairs/diagnostics.
• Possess an active Secret clearance or higher
