The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking an Intermittent Board Certified/Board Eligible Vascular Surgeon. The MVAHCS advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. Major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Surgical treatment of vascular pathology: aneurysms, dissections, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, hemodialysis access, vascular trauma, etc.
  • Consult with other physicians and refer patients to other specialists if required.
  • Discuss all the non-operative, medical versus surgical treatment options, as well risks and benefits of surgery with the patient.
  • Schedule follow-up to monitor patient's prior procedures and aneurysm size as part of well-established vascular society guidelines and advise them on suitable after care measures and medication they might requires.
  • Document all medical information in an electronic medical records.
  • Assist in the supervision and training of vascular surgery fellows, vascular and general surgery residents, medical students, physician assistant students, and other learners within the healthcare system
  • Supervise and assist our nurse practitioner and physician assistants in care of our vascular patients
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Vascular Surgical Service, Practice Manager or NCHCS Leadership with regards to vascular service.

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Additional information may be provided during the interview process.
