Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and develop an enthusiastic, competitive, tight-knit, and team-centered program culture.
  • Teach fundamentals/techniques and sport-specific and overall athletic skills, utilizing developmentally appropriate methods which develop enthusiasm and interest among the players.
  • Teach and develop character in athletes. Emphasize sportsmanship and leadership with athletes. Model respectful and professional interaction with players, opponents, colleagues, and parents.
  • Utilize a strong strategic understanding to game-plan and make in-game adjustments.
  • Prioritize the health and safety of the athletes.
  • Strive all out to win while balancing the bigger picture of effort, attitude, sportsmanship, dedication, and team supportiveness.
  • Provide clear direction and goals for the team/program, consistent with NWS culture and community, articulating philosophy, expectations, and logistical details via consistent communication with players and parents, in person and digitally.
  • Cultivate warm and respectful relationships with parents/guardians, both in person and via regular email correspondence regarding logistics and expectations.
  • Continually evaluate and improve the program based on the enthusiasm and achievement of players.
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with Athletic Director regarding logistical and philosophical details and staff hiring.
  • Collaborate closely with program coaches, as well as support staff and school colleagues.
  • Continually work to improve coaching effectiveness and knowledge base by way of attending clinics and conferences to develop coaching acumen.
  • Meet and maintain WIAA coaching education standards.
  • Understand and adhere to athletic department and WIAA sport-specific rules and regulations.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Expertise and experience coaching the sport at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Current training in First Aid, CPR, concussion management, and sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Clear Washington State Background check.

Compensation/Details: Competitive coaching stipend, based on experience.
This is a stipend only position. Season starts in mid-November and ends mid-February - early March.

Availability: Monday-Saturday.
