Position Overview: South Umpqua High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to lead our Varsity Girls Basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, competitive environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and the overall development of student-athletes both on and off the court.
Qualifications: - Previous basketball coaching experience is strongly preferred.
- Must meet certification requirements as outlined by the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).
- Demonstrated expertise in coaching techniques, injury prevention, and basketball strategy at a competitive level.
- A background as a basketball player is desirable.
- Must possess a valid First Aid/CPR certification at the time of hire.
- Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with student-athletes, staff, and parents.
- Commitment to supporting student-athlete academic success and personal growth.
Additional Responsibilities: - Develop and implement effective practice plans and game strategies.
- Promote a culture of integrity, discipline, and accountability.
- Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school staff.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding program needs and OSAA compliance.
- Supervise assistant coaches and mentor players at all levels of the program.
