Mission:
Cross-Device Innovation (XDI) UXR team is a research team in the Devices & Services Product Group that brings product concepts to life through research. Through foundational, exploratory, and evaluative research, XDI UXR informs cutting-edge technologies and innovative ideas. Some of our focus areas include exploring redesigning hardware with repairability in mind, augmented reality hardware, new multi-modal interaction models and bringing personal and GenAI features to the Pixel Ecosystem.
Role Description: UX Researcher, Google Hardware
Responsibilities - Design and execute user research studies with external participants
- Create and execute on a ux research strategy, including identifying new opportunities for high-impact research and executing on them.
- Partner closely with Design, PM, and Engineering leaders to drive product strategy and ensure product excellence.
- Understand and incorporate technical and business requirements into research.
- Advocate for research findings to diverse audiences through written reports, oral presentations, and other methods you identify to be most effective.
- Provide a strong user-focused point-of-view in product discussions, design reviews, and strategic research planning.
- Deliver impact by advocating for the user in key business decisions.
- Be curious, ask questions, and challenge the status quo.
- Contribute to a vibrant and supportive team culture.
Minimum Qualifications - Experience with research design utilizing various methods including but not limited to usability studies, contextual inquiry, concept testing and surveys
- Relevant product research experience in a foundational/generative setting
- Experience with every stage of research, from scoping, planning, and recruiting to execution and reporting
- Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
- Experience working closely with product manager, UX designer and engineering to inform product direction
- Clear communication

Bonus Qualifications - Experience conducting research on GenAI, Augmented Reality or Hardware devices.
- Human Factors & Ergonomics research background or expertise
- A passion for creating high quality and actionable insights in a very ambiguous and undefined space.
- Comfortable with the fast changing priorities of shipping the first version of a product.
- Super collaborative and open to learning a new style of research and deliverable crafting.
